The redevelopment project
A new space to rediscover the cultural heritage of the Acea Group through photographs, industrial objects, and works of art that tell the corporate, urban and cultural history.
Where culture, memory, and innovation meet.
Acea Heritage was created to enhance the cultural heritage of the Acea Group by making it accessible to visitors in a renewed space at the heart of its headquarters in Piazzale Ostiense.
The project is part of Museimpresa, the Italian Association of Corporate Archives and Museums, which, through a network of archives and corporate museums, aims to promote corporate cultural policy.
The redevelopment project
The project involves the redevelopment of the Salone del Pubblico and its transformation into an exhibition space with hybrid purposes, conceived as a place for meeting, discovery, and dialogue for those who experience the spaces of the Piazzale Ostiense headquarters in Rome every day.
At the moment, Acea Heritage is open to all the people of the Group. Starting in September, citizens will also be able to visit it on specific days by reservation.
A journey through the history of our headquarters.
The exhibition serves as a mirror of the transformations of the contemporary world and offers a journey through the history of modern Italian architecture.
Through an educational and chronological display of documents, archival images, industrial engineering objects, and works of art, the exhibition tells the story of Acea alongside Rome’s major moments of productive and social growth.
The evolution of electric and hydraulic technology is illustrated through symbolic objects from Acea’s ecosystem: alternators, transformers, token-operated meters, historical lamps, and fountains.
These elements, which today are part of industrial archaeology, contributed to the social and identity-related progress of the city, creating a deep connection between technology, urban design, and collective memory.
Drawings, sketches, and studies - on loan from private collections and institutions - tell the story of the work of Gino Marotta and Pietro De Laurentiis for Acea’s headquarters. The works of both artists, housed within the spaces of Acea’s building, represent a perfect combination of contemporary art and Italian modern architecture.
The art of Gino Marotta
Gino Marotta, an eclectic artist, worked from the 1950s through the 2010s. His artistic experimentation was characterized by the use of various materials and styles, always maintaining a deep connection with the artistic movements of the twentieth century.
The sculptures of Pietro De Laurentiis
Pietro De Laurentiis created large bronze sculptures for the headquarters in Piazzale Ostiense - works that share the same spirit of experimentation and contemporaneity as the company itself.
