Management systems

To ensure that the Acea Group business function correctly, there is a structured range of standards, procedure and internal processes.

In order to guarentee compliance with legislation and at the same time monitor and control the risks, the system is divided into a network of protected areas (resources, technologies, instruments and competencies), partially interconnected according to the objectives/risks to be monitored and designed to ensure the achievement of control objectives.

The certified integrated management system

For the sustainability of its operations, Acea acknowledges the following core values:

  • the promotion of a quality culture

  • respect for the environment and safeguarding of ecosystems, also through energy efficiency

  • the valorisation of people also through fairer gender equality

  • health and safety in the workplace (including infection prevention and control)

  • corruption prevention

  • efficient resource management

  • risk assessment

  • responsible management of its economic, social and environmental impacts

  • dialogue with the parties involved

  • promotion of sustainability in the value chain.

For the continuous updating of its Management Systems, Acea constantly monitors and analyses changes in the internal and external context, as well as the expectations of its stakeholders.

The role of the Quality, Environment and Management Systems Unit

The Quality, Environment and Management Systems Unit defines the policies, methods, standards of reference and requisites for developing and maintaining the group’s certified management systems associated with quality, environment, safety, energy and gender parity, as well as any other certifications and attestations that are deemed necessary.

The Unit:

  • performs risk assessment activities

  • identifies the group management system training needs

  • monitors the management systems of the operating companies in order to ensure that quality, environment and safety standards are maintained by managing relations with the certification authority

  • provides support for the operating companies’ control entities, during the various phases of the process

  • monitors and analyses the results of the internal and external assessments.

Management Systems and Certifications Policy

The Acea Group has implemented a Management Systems and Sustainability Policy, which sets out the principles, values and commitments undertaken by the company, including them as part of the framework for the pursuance of sustainable development. This policy is an integral part of the Management Systems compliant with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 standards.

Management of quality, environment, safety and energy are central aspects of our corporate policies, as shown by the number of Group companies that have implemented certified integrated management systems.

An integrated approach to compliance

The Acea Group has adopted a methodological approach, which is explained in the various compliance policies, particularly insofar as concerns Anti-Corruption, Antitrust and Privacy.

Acea certified for gender equality

In December 2022 Acea obtained UNI/PdR 125:2022 certification for gender equality.

The recognition of gender equality confirms Acea’s commitment to diversity and inclusiveness issues and its ability to adopt tangible measures for reducing the gender gap in terms of growth opportunities, equal pay, the protection of parenthood and work-life balance. In 2022, the Group introduced an Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy and set up a Group Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee, to steer the process of evolution towards a corporate culture based on inclusion, the promotion of diversity and the fair treatment of people.

During the course of 2024 a project was carried out to extend the gender equality certification to include the Group’s main operating companies (Acea Ambiente, Acea Ato 2, areti, Acea Infrastructure, Acea Energia), which was achieved in December 2024.
