We manage seven hydroelectric power plants
We generate clean, renewable energy from water.
Our power plants are located in the regions of Lazio, Abruzzo, and Umbria, with a total installed capacity of 120.51 MW.
Our presence in the hydroelectric sector is part of a broader sustainability strategy, with the Acea Group strongly committed to contributing to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Province: Rieti
Installed capacity: 25.0 MW
The Salisano power plant is unique in Europe and worldwide, as it is one of the few plants of this size that produce electricity using drinking water. The water and hydroelectric sections of the plant are built within caverns, with tunnels and chambers excavated within a limestone formation. Here, water from the Peschiera and Capore springs flows into the two branches of the aqueduct system that supplies the capital city.
Province: Terni
Installed capacity: 21.8 MW
Located on the final stretch of the Nera River, just a few kilometres from its confluence with the Tiber, this run-of-river hydroelectric plant draws water from the San Liberato dam reservoir. The water is conveyed to the production facility, which houses two twin generating units, via a derivation channel.
Province: Chieti
Installed capacity: 59.66 MW
The reservoir-type power station utilizes the water resources of the Sangro River and its main tributaries, the Aventino and the Verde. The Bomba and Casoli lakes, named after their respective dams, were created to feed the power station. The facility houses twin generating units. It is one of the Group's main hydroelectric plants and contributes significantly to the region’s sustainable energy supply.
Province: Rome
Installed capacity: 0.35 MW
The power station consists of a mini-turbine installed within the water facility of the same name, managed by Acea Ato 2.
Province: Rome
Installed capacity: 7.4 MW
This run-of-river plant draws water from the Aniene River via the San Cosimato dam reservoir, which was built in a gorge carved by the river. Located in the municipality of Castel Madama, the plant houses two generating units and is connected to the reservoir through a diversion system consisting of tunnel sections, open-cut canals, and canal bridges, for a total length of nearly 6 km.
Province: Rome
Installed capacity: 0.4 MW
The Madonna del Rosario power station consists of a mini-turbine installed within the water facility of the same name, managed by Acea Ato 2.
Province: Rome
Installed capacity: 5.9 MW
This run-of-river plant draws water from the Aniene River via the Roviano dam, located in the municipality of the same name. A tunnel approximately 4 km long conveys the water to the reservoir, which feeds the plant.
The power station building, located in the municipality of Saracinesco, houses two generating units.
