The aim of the intervention is to adapt the sludge line of the Ponte Lucano purification plant using the ozonolysis technique (sludge oxidation), which increases the capacity of the plant by up to 110,000 population equivalent (P.E.).
Ozonolysis is an innovative technology that has shown excellent results both in terms of energy saving and reduction of production waste as well as important benefits from an environmental point of view. In fact, it guarantees the protection of ecosystems as discharges into surface water bodies do not negatively affect the quality of the river waters and reduces, among other things, the release of greenhouse gasses resulting from normal water and sludge treatment systems.
